Terms of Use

Last updated: July 30, 2026

These terms govern your use of the Meloclip iOS app, operated by Crolab. By using the app you accept them. If you do not, please do not use the app.

What Meloclip does

Meloclip analyses the audio of a piano performance and produces its best estimate of the notes played, then displays them as falling notes synced to your video. It is a practice and visualisation tool.

Transcription is an estimate, not a score. Automatic transcription is remarkably good and still imperfect — it can miss quiet notes, invent notes in dense passages, or split hands wrongly. Meloclip lets you correct any of this by hand. Do not treat the output as an authoritative transcription, and do not present it as the composer's original notation.

The content you import — this part is on you

Meloclip gives you no rights whatsoever over the music, videos or recordings you bring into it. You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to import a given file or link, and for what you do with what comes out.

In particular, importing a video from a third-party platform may breach that platform's terms even when the app makes it technically possible. Public-domain works and your own recordings are the safe ground. Exports carry a Meloclip watermark and are intended for your own practice and personal sharing.

You agree not to use Meloclip to infringe anyone's copyright, and to hold Crolab harmless for the material you choose to import.

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to reverse-engineer the app, overload or probe our transcription service, resell access to it, or use it to build a competing dataset. Do not upload content that is illegal.

Availability

Transcription depends on a server. We aim to keep it up but we do not promise uninterrupted service, and we may change or discontinue features. If we ever shut the service down, your existing projects stay readable on your device.

Liability

Meloclip is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, Crolab is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the app. Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer under French or European law, including the statutory warranty of conformity.

Governing law

These terms are governed by French law. If you are a consumer, you keep the right to bring proceedings before the courts of your place of residence.

Changes

We may update these terms. If a change is material we will tell you in the app, and continuing to use Meloclip after that means you accept the new version.
